HELP YOUR NEIGHBOR!

February 12th brought 8.6 inches of snow to the midlands of South Carolina as measured at the Columbia airport! Two Springs was able to assist two vehicles when they become immobilized due to icy conditions. Both vehicles slid nose first into ditches on secondary roads. We feel fortunate that we were able to assist these individuals when they became stuck in cold and icy conditions. The first motorist was a teenage girl who returned to a friend's house less than a quarter mile away - her destination was 15 miles further! The second motorist were five individuals in a Ford F250 that learned not to hit your brakes when you start to skid. We hope that everyone traveled safely during this storm and please look for ways to help your neighbors!

Two Springs will have in-house 36" color plotting available by Wednesday, February 10th! We continually look for ways to improve the services we offer our clients and this was a logical step to bring more services in-house which will allow better quality control, responsiveness, and lower costs!

REACHING OUT!

A winter storm moved through western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina the 28th through 31st of January, 2010.  In an effort to help our neighbors, Two Springs owners loaded up their very capable Toyota FJ Cruiser and hit the roads and headed north looking for stranded motorists that we could assist. We went loaded for bear but fortunately found very few cars stranded and everyone who had become stranded had already left their vehicles. A few trees were down in northern Greenville County but most people seemed to still have power. Bad weather does not keep Two Springs indoors! We are trained and experienced in traversing our FJ Cruiser through very tough conditions. We can both navigate your job site to efficiently complete your project, or navigate the country side to help our neighbors!

GIVING BACK TO THOSE WHO GAVE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE

Two Springs was an official sponsor for "Build a Cruiser for a Fallen Soldier" which occurred January 15 - 18th in Watkinsville, Georgia. This event brought together over 150 individuals and more than 16 sponsors to rebuild a 1972 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 for the family of Corporal Joshua Reeves, a soldier who was killed in Iraq by an IED on September 22, 2007. Joshua's first and only child, Jackson, was born one day before Joshua was killed. Joshua learned of his son's birth as  he was preparing for patrol. Joshua was killed later that day while on patrol.

A special thanks goes out to the Reeves family, the Patriot Guard Riders, the City of Watkinsville Police Department, Metal Tech 4x4, ACC Toyota, and especially Toyota Motor Corporation who donated $1,000 towards a college fund for Jackson Reeves.

There will be another build weekend this summer (date yet to be determined) where we will finish our mechanical improvements and pull the body off so PACOL can fully refurbish the tub back to perfect condition.

We salute all of our men and women in uniform! Please contact us if you would like to assist this summer.

DEVELOPING INNOVATIVE, COST EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS

Two Springs is currently developing an in-vehicle GPS system for use in the company’s FJ Cruiser. This system will provide 2 to 3 meter GPS mapping from within the vehicle. Field maps will be preloaded onto a solid-state tablet computer displaying state-wide USGS quadrangle maps. This GPS was planned for implementation in the first quarter of 2010 but with the introduction of the iPad by Apple, we are holding off for a few more months to see if this new device will provide a better alternative for our client's needs. In the mean time we still can provide up to sub-meter GPS mapping for our clients with a Trimble GeoXT.
